Actually, I can now assign bugs to myself, by following the (somewhat inscrutable) <a href="http://rubyforge.org/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=5298&group_id=5&atid=101" rel="nofollow">instructions</a> on the RubyForge Support Tracker. Cool!

And it turns out that adding extra fields is also possible, if we need to.

Hi Joseph. In fact I wrote up a very simple little "registration moderation" plugin, in conjunction with a little design flair added by dbd-login-style. All it does is pre-define wp_new_user_notification and sends the generated password to me instead of the new user.

Gaphor's cooler than I expected it to be. It doesn't work on Ubuntu Gutsy out of the repository, but if you do `apt-get install python-setuptools` and use the ez_setup option on their website, it works perfectly.

I like this idea, and I think we should try to name new project "MVPs" for each mid-size release. That is, someone who did an especially good job that cycle, with emphasis on new contributors.

You might want to try out the Akismet plugin in combination with only allowing users with previously approved comments to comment. On my WP I only have two registered spambots after many months, so you could probably just manage them by hand.
